Scellier Law

Friday, 14.05.2010

Proprety Tax International www.ptireturns.com

On the 1st of January this year a new incentive was introduced to entice new buyers of the highly popular French Leaseback scheme. The loi Scellier or Scellier Law was adapted to offer a further enticement for those looking to get on the French property ladder.

The new measure allows a provision to claim a French tax reduction at 25% of the property purchase price over 9 years on property prics less than €300 000. This would ensure a significant saving on a French income tax return.

A reclaim of up to €75000 could be claimed equivalent to €8333 each year against any French tax liability. The deadline for those looking to apply is 31st December 2010.

There are further opportunities to increase the threshold to 37% of the property price over 15 years if the property is let under a specific ocial houseing scheme called: Scellier Social which is subject to certain terms and condition.
